Studying abroad is such a special opportunity. Being able to find a community, explore the world and breakthrough personal boundaries is what LeadAbroad is all about! It can't get much better than that, right?! The Chi Chapter of Delta Delta Delta at the University of Mississippi decided to take that challenge, with multiple sisters traveling abroad with us this summer!
We had girls on MULTIPLE programs, from LEAD Greece to DIRECT Cape Town and so much more. They were able to have the experience of a lifetime traveling abroad with each other, while creating memories and a home away from their (college) home. Sophie Gabbert, a 2nd year on our DIRECT Florence, shared how traveling with her sisters enhanced her experience in ways she didn't know possible! “Studying abroad with girls from my chapter made my experience even better since I had people to explore and spend time with while abroad! Our friendships grew during our time abroad and now I have new best friends!” Across the U.S., girls build a sisterhood and find a sense of community within their sororities, but being able to take that overseas creating unique and once in a lifetime memories is something these girls will never forget! They experienced some of the world's most beautiful sights, amazing dinners getting to know other students on their programs, and exploring an unknown place together. Whether you come already with a community or without knowing a single soul, there is no doubt that you'll leave with the best of friends.
Not only are these sisters building connections amongst each other, but they are also doing so with students they met along the way. Meeting new people and having the opportunity to build a community is on of the best parts about a study abroad experience, and one that LeadAbroad takes pride in. To know that students can come together from all different walks of life and parts of the country, and leave with the best of friendships is what makes our programs so special. Mckayla Desouza, a 3rd year also on DIRECT Florence, found so much joy in all the bonds created and cherished. "One of my favorite memories from my experience in Florence, Italy with LeadAbroad was the farewell dinner. It was a mix of emotions saying goodbye to all of my new friends, but sharing one last dinner together is something I will never forget. It was truly the best ending to a great trip, sharing our stories, laughs, and memories from our time abroad together."
We are so thankful for the opportunity to take these sisters abroad and give them the experience of a lifetime.
