"I'm in Italy!" These two weeks abroad felt lke a wonderful fever dream for University of Arkansas junior, Katelyn Bunce. She travelled on the DIRECT Florence Session 2 trip with LeadAbroad and enjoyed every moment. Throughout her trip, she kept looking around and realizing once again that she was in Italy, one of the most picturesque countries in the world.

Katelyn decided to take this leap by herself. She signed up for LeadAbroad not knowing anyone else on the trip. Her mindset was to see if she qualified and go from there. Once she got the good news that she was accepted, she just said to herself, "let's do it!"
"I am big about pushing myself out of my comfort zone because I believe that's where I grow the most," Katelyn reflected on her decision to go abroad. This decision, however, was not without nerves; Katelyn had never even been on a plane by herself, therefore a trip abroad was a big leap. LeadAbroad had walked her through every step and made the process so easy.
Positivity radiated throughout the entirety of the trip as she knew she was not alone, she trusted herself, and she would enjoy every moment because who knew when she would get this chance again. These two weeks went by in the blink of an eye, so they all tried to fit in as much exploration as possible. Checking in on one another was key to participating in all of these adventures.
Looking back, she is extremely happy that she attended this trip. This new experience with newfound friends is something she will never forget. She now has an abundance of stories to share. Katelyn wants every student to know that if they take anything from her experience, "just do it!" Whatever program that you decide: DIRECT, LEAD, GO, PRO, whichever, take the step. Embrace the new and the unfamiliar.
