Caroline Ricketts is a sophomore at Ole Miss that learned to face her fears with the wonderful team that went abroad with her. Through DIRECT Cape Town Session 2, Caroline learned a lot about herself.

Caroline faced her fear of heights while looking down from 216-meters high on Bloukrans Bridge. This was nerve-wracking, however, when she looked back, she saw the leaders and all her newfound friends encouraging her and cheering for her. She made the jump and felt wonderfully accomplished.

After jumping, Caroline received a video from one opf the leaders that showcased the loud, boisterous cheers from everyone inside. Caroline recapped her adventure by stating, "I remember feeling so good and feeling like I conquered something that I was truly afraid of."

Since being in South Africa, she has experienced an immense amount of growth: more confidence, a willingness to say yes even though it could be scary, and trying to challenge herself. Bungee jumping was a reflective experience for Caroline as she was filled with adrenaline before jumping but afterward, she felt more connected with the group and their excitement.

The joy that spread throughout the group was grounding and allowed Caroline to push herself. She realized that she doesn't want to miss out on opportunities due to fear, therefore, she took these positive changes home from Cape Town with her.
