DIRECT Greece Addison Littleton.jpeg

“When the time came to start getting my things packed for DIRECT Greece, I panicked. Would I make friends? Would I enjoy the program? Was this a mistake? Just 5 minutes after landing in Athens, Greece, I asked two girls if I could walk with them to baggage claim - now they are some of my favorite people in the world. I would recommend anyone to LeadAbroad because they truly get you out of your comfort zone. I built friendships in Greece that I will have for the rest of my life!”

— Addison Littleton, University of Mississippi

“LeadAbroad was a program that would not only allow me to experience the time of my life but also push me to better myself in ways I would’ve never imagined. I am forever changed because of this program! I find beauty in the simple things, I am more confident, I admire new cultures, and I am a better leader.”

— Hannah Steimer, University of Arkansas

Personal Development & Service

Traveling abroad can bring a renewed sense of confidence and clarity to your life during a pivotal time. Our staff works to maximize this opportunity by facilitating personal development workshops and creating space to pause and reflect on all that you are experiencing. You will enrich and broaden your perspective during our one-day service project with a local community center. Each lesson will have a unique focus ranging from your personal strengths, practicing gratitude, creating your vision statement or identifying your values. Through guided conversations, these personal development exercises will provide an invaluable sense of purpose and direction for your life.

Ancient Athens & Corinth

We’ve designed the itinerary to maximize your time abroad as you hop between Athens and Santorini. You will step back in time in Athens seeing ancient ruins and the first Olympic stadium. You cannot visit Greece without spending time in the city. You’ll fall in love with the cobblestone paths, rooftop theaters and gelato shops around every corner. You might even decide to take a leap and bungee jump over Corinth Canal.

Greek Islands & Santorini

Next we hop on a ferry to Santorini. When most people think of Greece, they are picturing the iconic blue domes of Oia. Oia is the only place in the world we know where everyone stops to applaud when the sun finally sets because the experience is that breathtaking. You’ll have the opportunity to hike a volcano in Santorini, visit hot springs, and take trips to world-famous attractions like the blue domes of Oia and the charming town of Fira.

Program accommodations are safe, comfortable and centrally located. In Athens, you will stay in a hotel in the center of town. Since there is so much to do in your week in Athens, we want to make it easy for you to explore the city with minimal transportation time. You are right in the heart of the action to shop at the Plaka markets, see a rooftop movie or eat dinner overlooking the Acropolis. Because of the number of students we have on the program, we will split students into two hotels that are about a 5 minute walk apart. In Athens, all students will be in twin rooms.

In Santorini, you will stay at a boutique hotel in an ideal location with easy access to restaurants and the best views of the island. Roommate setup will vary in Santorini but you can expect to stay in 2, 3 or 4-person rooms.
