1. Connect with the LeadAbroad Community

We travel with hundreds of incredible college students each year from over 75 different universities.  By choosing LeadAbroad, you are entering a network of supportive, ambitious, adventurous college students.  No matter what your major, hometown or life goals, with a little effort you can meet lifelong friends who will push you to be your best.

There’s a few ways to get connected.  First, follow us on Instagram.  Here you will see others tagging @LeadAbroad and sharing #LeadAbroadLife photos and you can follow and connect with them.  Next, reach out to your onboarding coach.  This is a staff member whose job is to ensure you are 100% prepared and ready to go for your program.  You will receive their contact information via email and you can communicate via email, text or phone.  There are so many other ways to get connected such as attending an event on your campus, joining your program GroupMe or posting that you are going on a LeadAbroad program this summer. Just like anything in college, the more you put into this experience, the more you will get out of it.

2. Apply for a Passport

While you are waiting for your official acceptance email, it’s a great idea to apply for your passport.  We accept students every 2 weeks starting in October so you may have a little wait depending on when you apply.

If you do not have a passport, no worries!  This is the first step to a life of international adventures and you’ll never look back. Follow the steps here to get a passport from the U.S. Department of State.  Do this early so you are not stressed when departure rolls around.

If you already have a passport, check the expiration date. If it expires in the year you are traveling, apply for a renewal. Many countries require your passport to be valid 6-12 months after you intend to travel back to the United States.  Here are some helpful tips on renewing a passport.
