Itinerary

Pack your bags for a whirlwind European adventure! On DIRECT Europe, you will explore Prague, Interlaken and Florence while enjoying amazing adventures and cultural sights. This is the perfect way to jetset around Europe without any of the stress or hassle of planning it on your own.

You will fly into Prague, a city known for its amazing architecture and charm. Here you will enjoy a city tour to see the sights and pose for Instagram photo opps with the colorful John Lennon wall. Next we will hop on a river cruise to get a different perspective and you’ll also have free time to taste the specialities, explore a museum or do some shopping.

Next, we will take a bus to Interlaken, Switzerland – the adventure capital of Europe!  On the way we will stop at the Neuschwanstein Castle, which is known as the “Cinderella Castle” and an inspiration to Disney. Once we get to Interlaken you will quickly fall in love with this gorgeous city surrounded by mountains. Whether you want to spend your free time doing chocolate tastings or paragliding, you won’t be bored for a minute. LeadAbroad will help you organize optional activities for our free day and then we will go on a day rafting trip.

Finally, we will finish our tour de Europe in Florence – a mecca of art and culture. You will visit the Academia to see the David – even more impressive in person than in photos. You will also have the option to enjoy a day trip to Tuscany’s wine country before we head to Cinque Terre to explore the amazing villages and hang at the beach.

After two weeks of exploring the best art, culture and cuisine of Europe, we hope that you return home with new insights about yourself, the world and your purpose.  Apply here to join us on DIRECT Europe!

Adventures

Each of these cities has incredible opportunities for adventures, but Interlaken is rightfully called the adventure capital of Europe and where a lot of that adventuring will occur. Our whole program will enjoy a rafting day-trip from Thun to Bern and an amazing hike. You’ll also have time to do optional adventures like abseiling, skydiving, canyoning or paragliding. Finally in Florence, you’ll get to enjoy the unreal views as you do the famous hikes between the towns of Cinque Terre. In every city, you will have the chance to stretch your personal comfort zone and see the city in a whole new light.

Service

LeadAbroad believes that there are small ways that you can give back wherever you are in the world. During the program, we will take a few hours to connect with a local organization to give back of our time to invest in the cities that are giving us so much.

Workshops

In our years of leading transformative experienceStudents in workshops, we have discovered the secrets to ensure you gain the most from your trip. DIRECT Europe combines the best aspects of our lessons into a few, brief workshops. Whether you are discussing your impressions of each city, creating your personal vision statement or sharing personal obstacles with the group, the workshop environment focuses on your personal development.

Flights

There are two ways to book your travel to Prague.  Our first recommendation is to reserve a seat on our optional group flight.  This is a great way to get to know your fellow LeadAbroad students from the moment you depart the US.  Traveling thousands of miles away from home is new and exciting so having familiar faces all around you makes the experience unforgettable. We will announce group flight details in the spring.  If the flight is departing from a location other than your hometown, you will need to book your connecting flight independently to meet up with the group flight with a minimum 4-hour layover to connect. No need for any stress on the way to Europe!

You can also choose to book your flight on your own. We will provide a time window when you should arrive at the airport in Prague. Whether you are on the group flight or a different flight on arrival day, LeadAbroad staff will be at the airport to greet you with huge posters and even bigger smiles. We will arrange your transportation to the accommodations if you arrive within the designated group arrival time frame.

If you are traveling prior to the program, you can also meet us at the accommodations to check in with the rest of the group on the same day.

It is important to note that the program ends in Rome, so students will depart from the Rome airport (FCO).

Health & Safety

Your safety is our number one priority on all programs. We execute safety procedures on DIRECT Europe including assessment, education, security measures, ongoing monitoring and emergency response protocol. The LeadAbroad Policies, Terms & Conditions document outlines these policies in detail.

We want every student to remain healthy on the program so they can get the most of their time abroad. Though we are prepared to handle inevitable health issues, we certainly do not want you to miss out on the adventures and fun. Therefore, we combine pre-departure preparation with on the ground strategies to ensure our students are healthy and happy.

Prior to departure, every student will complete a detailed health questionnaire. We encourage you to visit your doctor and dentist to ensure that you are up to date on all vaccinations and have complete supply of prescriptions. We also offer international medical insurance through CISI for all LeadAbroad students. It is important to note that this is different than trip protection and travel insurance. We will provide many more details on health and safety information in the student login after you are accepted.
